New Hair, New Routine
Washing
Brush your hair and extensions before washing to prevent matting and tangles.
Wash your hair at least twice a week to prevent build up.
Use recommended sulfate free Shampoo+Conditioner
Shampoo gently, inbetween rows. be as thorough as you can be. This step may take more time now that you have added hair.
Use recommended deep moisturizing mask once a week
Do not use Olaplex, or K18 on extensions.
Post-Wash
Before you brush, Apply a leave-in conditioner from mid length to ends
Brush gently! Hold the bottom of your hair and start brushing from the bottom upwards. When moving up to the base of your hair hold the tops of the wefts with your finger tips to prevent pulling on your natural hair and slipping of your extensions.
Styling
Do not sleep with wet hair. We recommend blowdrying your hair until its at least 80% dry.
When blowdrying, use just your fingers to move and separate the hair to rough dry.
Avoid using any brush or round brush until the last few minutes of blowdrying. Your hair should be 90% dry and completely dry at the base before you use a brush
Make sure to communicate these tips to any other person/stylist working on your hair—blowout and dry bars included.
Before using a curling iron, flat iron, airwrap, or any other hot tool, apply a heat protectant. Oil is not a heat protectant.
Every day Tips
Apply a hair oil to your ends every day to keep your extensions moisturized
Be careful with how much dry shampoo you are using. Your scalp needs to stay healthy. Too much dry shampoo can cause shedding and dryness.
During any activity such as working out, running, biking, water sports, etc- Securely tie back your hair with a satin scrunchie or invisibobble tie in a low pony tail, loose braid, or double braids.
Before bed, brush your hair to prevent matting while sleeping. Securely tie back your hair with a satin scrunchie or invisibobble tie in a low pony tail, loose braid, or double braids. Bonus points if you sleep with a satin pillowcase
While you can wear your hair in a high pony or bun…. do not wear your hair like this often. It will likely pull at the front of your hair causing damage to your natural hair.
Sunscreen, Swimming Pools, & Spray Tan Advisory
Listen… Live your life and make life long Memories. Hair extensions can always be replaced.
Chemical sunscreen, chlorine, spray tans, and make-up will discolor your extensions. Chemical sunscreen will turn your extensions peach and is non-reversable. You will need to replace your extensions if this happens.
Stay away from any sunscreens (cream, or spray) that contains avobenzone or chemicals. Seek Sunscreens that are mineral based. Yes-they will protect you from harsh sun.
Only use these sunscreens- Salt & Stone & Bare Republic
Be careful in pools or in water with other people as sunscreen will float on the surface and could still discolor your extensions.
